In Illinois, a job in social services can feel like an abusive relationship - every day you give your all to ensure that people in marginalized populations live happy, healthy lives, yet you are constantly told that you are not doing quite enough. (Oh, and you have to beg the state to pay you for doing that work...) As I drove home tonight after another long day - my kid sacked out in my back seat after hanging out with me while I worked late - I thought about how I’m responsible for only a small part of the lives of about 180 people and I sincerely want to throw in the towel at least once a week.

Can you even imagine how fucking awful it is to be the President of the United States? To be blamed for everything that’s wrong with the entire country?? And to still want that shitty job after a bunch of people wearing shitty t-shirts said such shitty things about you when you were running against a shitty, shitty man? That's not a power grab - that's a deep, deep commitment to that office.

Rest up, HRC. History awaits…..God willing.
