This is an old restored but still working narrowboat "Aldgate". On the North Oxford Canal near Rugby.

Aldgate is 71' 6" in length, 7' 0.5" in width with a draft of 3' when empty. Aldgate is capable of carrying 25 tonnes. Aldgate is registered as a National Historic Ship.

Aldgate is a Town Class ( Large Woolwich) steel Motor Boat, built for the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company Ltd by Harland & Wolff at Woolwich. She was launched in August 1936, and operated under fleet number 103, with the Grand Union gauging number 12555. Aldgate was first registered at Rickmansworth as number 133 on Feb 16, 1937. Aldgate is powered by a Petter PD2 air cooled 2.25ltr twin cylinder diesel producing 20hp @ 1500rpm.
