Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on Canon Hill a few seconds after the old gentleman left the flowers in remembrance of his departed wife.

Time

This was taken in the evening about six p.m.

Lighting

To draw the viewer in I have vignetted the image leaving the centre clear.

Equipment

I use a Canon SX40 HS with a 35x optical zoom.

Inspiration

This was a moment where it pays to always have a camera about you and to keep your eyes open. It is easy to let the camera sleep thus missing such shots. To have a camera slung easy is to invite inspiration.

Editing

Totally. It is an integral part of the image making process.

In my camera bag

Just the camera. I don't have lots of equipment as I find it cramps my movement and irritates me. I like to be free physically and mentally to take photos.

Feedback

My advice would be to free yourself of equipment. Don't lug around a tripod except for night shots. Similarly stick on one lens. Preferably a wide angle to zoom. Remember you're out to take photos not hump around loads of equipment.
