Behind The Lens
Location
I was spending the day in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Akron Ohio. This is a predominate nesting place for the Great Blue Heron.Time
It was a rainy overcast day approximately 10am. There was a lot of activity going and coming to the nests in order to feed the young.Lighting
The overcast rainy day presented a grey background that allowed the Heron to be highlighted.Equipment
Nikon D7200 with 200mm lens with a doubler.Inspiration
I saw this bird come around for a landing. I had my camera on a tripod and rotated it around and locked down just in time for it's landing.Editing
I cropped the picture using Photoshop CC and increased the saturation to bring out the colors of the Heron. In my camera bag
Tripod, selection of lenses, extra battery, lens cleaner, rain cover for camera.Feedback
The longer the lens the better for nature photography. The trees were about 300' from where I was standing alongside the road the longer lens made the shot with the detail possible. Also the clarity and detail was due to a rock steady Manfroto Tripod.
