Behind The Lens

Location

The colors of Autumn were glowing at Pioneer Park in Walla Walla, WA.

Time

I went for a stroll at almost midday.

Lighting

The natural outdoor lighting enhanced the colors. A little bit of overcasting haze really allowed the colors to step forward.

Equipment

I used my Olympus EM-10 with M.Zuiko 40-150mm lens and a tripod.

Inspiration

The brilliant colors and the large orderly trees caught my attention and drew me to capture this image.

Editing

I did some post-processing, but mainly to regain the image my mind’s eye saw. I warmed and saturated the palette just a little.

In my camera bag

Back then, my Oly was my only whip. I carried the M.Zuiko lens and kit lens. I have since stepped into a Nikon D90 that I often outfit with a 150-600mm Tamron. I often bring the Oly to a shoot, as it shares images via wifi to my tablet for instant social media posting.

Feedback

Really the best advice is the old adage: you’ll miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. If you’re waiting for the perfect subject and your camera is sitting at home, you will miss the lighting or the action. Your camera was created for a purpose and so were you; you were meant to be together. Live in the moment, but capture a memory or two to reflect on when time allows.
