Location
I took this photo in the front yard of my childhood home... aka my parents house. I grew up playing soccer and volleyball in this exact spot that my daughter stands.Time
It was as the sun was beginning to set. You can tell it was the beginning of sunset by how strong the sun is and by how much natural contrast there is in the shadows and highlights.Lighting
I had originally placed the sun right behind her and quickly realized my mistake, as the light was now so bright that everything else was instantly shadowed. By moving their position away from the sun a bit, you are now able to get more colors and see more detail.Equipment
I used a canon 6D with a canon 85 1.8... currently my only lens.Inspiration
My goal in taking photos is to pull out an emotional response. With this one, it was part of a personal project called The Innocence Project. The purpose being that I really wanted to showcase the innocence of children, since I grew up in and out of abusive homes. In this photo you can feel my daughter's innocence as she kisses our puppy without being bothered by germs. She doesn't know better. She's completely innocent in that moment. And it touches our hearts.Editing
I love editing! I usually do my own edits first- cloning out any roads, distracting objects, etc. and then I like to use greater than gatsby actions! The I add my own final touches again with brightness and contrast, etc.In my camera bag
Currently all I have is my beautiful canon 6d and my 50mm 1.8. One day I hope to get an 85mm and a 135mm. Oh, and of course the coveted 70-200!!!Feedback
I made sure to have treats handy for both child and puppy during/after this shot!
