Location
This picture was taken in a beautiful private Italian villa dated around the end of 1700. It is currently a private home lent occasionally for ceremonies.Time
This shot was part of a wedding shooting, it was taken just few minutes before noon after the wedding ceremony was over.Lighting
I chose this room among others for the richness of the frescos. It was not supposed to be part of the shooting so windows were closed. This prevented the harsh noon light to enter the room and gave a well deserved centrality to the chandelier at the center of the ceiling which helped to lighten all the nuances of the fresco.Equipment
I took this shot by literally laying down on the marble ground. I used a 16-35 wide angle lens and an external flash.Inspiration
I was the second photographer at this shooting and I could take the liberty of being creative. I really wanted to use a wide angle lens at 16mm to produce a “keeper” that could portrait the bride in an architectural fashion. We were kidding and making jokes to ease the job and I suddenly laid down on my back and took a couple of shots of the bride while she was looking back. I was able to include the chandelier, all the dress and the frescos and that’s what Inwas looking for.Editing
I just chose to go BW to put the dress and the frescos on the same chromatism. I raised the shadows a bit to make the walls stand out a bit more.In my camera bag
In this occasion as I was shooting a wedding I had it all. Wide angle, a couple of primes external flash with all kinds of colour sheets.Feedback
Just one: have fun with the bride. Make them laugh make them joke and inspire them to go crazy.
