Living in Arkansas, one of my favorite past times is sitting on the front porch with my family and watching the storms roll in, for storm cells with strong electrical activity are very common in the spring and summer months. I've always been fascinated by the sheer power of storms, and I wanted to photograph these amazing scenes of mother nature. As a very amateur photographer (only a few months with a DSLR), I had to read a few articles on lightning photography before heading out. So I did, and I guess you can call it beginner's luck because this is the shot that I got, a shot of a lifetime. When this strike occurred, I just about had a heart attack. After the shutter closed, I looked at the image in complete awe thinking, "Well that was close." I flew inside to my mother (I was still in high school at the time) saying, "Mom, my life literally just flashed before my eyes! Check this out," as I showed her the image on my camera screen.
