The Astrid was first constructed in 1918 in the Netherlands. Originally named "Bide Your Time" she later found use as a luxury sailing vessel and then eventually a training vessel. In July of 2013 the vessel was travelling from the Oysterhaven anchorage in Cork, Ireland to participate in a voyage to nearby Kinsale when the engine failed. Unable to maneuver away from the coast she was wrecked on the rocks of the Irish coast partially sinking.
