Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at JoyLand in Wichita, its a now abandoned amusement park we used go to.

Time

Late afternoon we have made our way inside without any trouble. After walking around and scouting for some spots found this beauty sometime around 5 p.m.

Lighting

Only thing I can tell you about the lighting is that its all natural!

Equipment

This was created on my first DSLR my old Nikon D3000 using a 50mm 1.8 lens.

Inspiration

It was around the halloween time of year and one of my good friends I graduated high school with is now a makeup artist and we did this at a time we when we were both starting out on taking our crafts seriously so we decided to collaborate on this fun little shoot.

Editing

Yes post-processing went down, not a whole lot though. I was still using Lightroom at this time so I didnt spend too long on mainly just did some healing and played with the clarity and sharpness as well as the exposure and shadows. I honestly do not use lightroom all that often anymore unless its a session i just need to batch edit. The main program i prefer now is Affinity Photo.

In my camera bag

You'll normally catch me keeping it simple with what i carry around which now is a D7200, my 50mm 1.8 and my 10-20mm 4.5. I like to keep my an extra battery on me as well as a small grey card to help set my white balance when needed.

Feedback

Honestly just dont use any artificial light if you dont need to and on a photo like this I would shoot for under exposing rather than over, make sure your models are wearing something that would blend with the darkness easily and of course get you a badass makeup artist, thats what really mattered for this session.
