Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in a small parking garage in Chattanooga, TN. I don't have a studio given that I'm still a student, but decided to make the most of what was in my city!

Time

This was taken around the evening time (about 1-2 hours before sunset).

Lighting

I just used one Alien Bee light to the right. I made my way to the back of the parking garage so as not to let too much additional natural light in.

Equipment

Alien Bee light. Canon 5D Mark iii. Canon 50mm 1.2.

Inspiration

This girl told me she was a dancer, and I had seen many images of dances that were very dramatic and lit somewhat harshly.

Editing

Not really. I left this photo mostly unedited, with just a few adjustments to contrast, exposure, etc.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark iii. Canon 50 mm 1.2. Canon 28mm 1.8. Canon 85mm 1.2.

Feedback

Use the fastest shutter speed you can (without letting it affect the off-camera flash). Get down towards a lower angle to make it slightly more moody and dramatic.
