Have you heard of Kathleen Clemons? She talks about her flowers "dancing" and has wonderful work that I think you would enjoy. BTW - which camera / lens are you using? This image has great macro detail in the center and yet the petals and back ground are soft and ethereal. LOVE it!

Cathi, thank you so very much for your kind words. I use an Olympus E-5 camera (four-thirds system) and for flowers the 50MM macro Olympus/Zuiko lens. My process for most flowers is select focus so I can capture the detail I choose and use a select aperture to allow the light I want to enter the lens. I have often been asked if my work comes from a Lensbaby lens or system which I know that Kathleen Clemons uses for most of her macro flowers. In the case of this particular shot, the flower was actually being blown by the wind and I tried to capture that for the soft and ethereal look that you so wonderfully mentioned. I am honored by your thoughts! :)
