Location
This Photo was taken in Suffolk at the Suffolk Wildlife Trust which is only about 10 mins from my front door!Time
This was taken at Dusk at what they call golden hour the last hour before the sunset!Lighting
I like shoot around Golden hour at Dusk before the sunsets!Equipment
I used for this shot the Nikon D500 with the Nikon 70-200mm F2.8 VR handheld.Inspiration
I have always had a Passion for Barn Owl Photography! I just love how silent they are as they glide through the air and plummet down to catch food from the undergrowth! Truly beautiful birds that make beautiful photographs!Editing
I didn’t do hardly any processing at all or editing for this shot it was all more or less straight out the camera! I find the Nikon D500 a very quick camera 10 frames per second burst and the colour reproduction on this camera is extremely good!In my camera bag
I always use the Nikon D500 and my go to lens which is the Nikon 70-200mm F2.8 VR because I find that to be a very versatile setup!Feedback
A lot of what I do when taking photos of Barn Owls is all down to patience and being in the right place at the right time! You have to make many visits sometimes before you learn where the Barn Owls are and their flight path and it’s important you learn about field craft techniques and that you keep a safe distance away and use a good telephoto lens to zoom in because if you get to close to the Owls you could spook them and they may never come back!! It’s very important to respect the welfare of all wildlife at all times!
