I tried to find some background on Mr. Ralston. I found it odd that while most gravestones say "Died year ____", Mr. Ralston's stone says "Killed 1878". I could not find anything about Mr. Ralston himself, so I looked up wars the U.S. was involved in during that year and found this: Paiute Indian Conflict, Bannock War, Cheyenne War, Lincoln County War, and the invasion of U.S. forces into Mexico. Although I can't know for sure, it is possible that Mr. Ralston may have died in one of these conflicts. Or it may have simply been an accident of some sort. We may never know.
