Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from our deck with hummingbird feeder just out of sight.

Time

I usually try to take photo's early in the morning or late at evening. But we have 5 hummingbird feeders and this particular day each feeder had 5-6 birds feeding. It was early afternoon, 12:43 pm to be exact.

Lighting

This was taken on a bright clear day. I did have woods in the background and with using f/5.6, the green from the trees made for a beautiful background.

Equipment

Canon EOS Rebel T5, Sigma 70-300 mm lens set at 133 mm and 1/1000 sec and f/5.6, tripod, remote.

Inspiration

I really enjoy taking wildlife and nature photo's. I had just bought this zoom lens and was anxious to try it out on our hummingbirds. Then when I saw the many hummers surrounding the feeders, I had to try it. Quickly got set up on our deck and with the remote, just sat and snapped a ton of pictures.

Editing

Yes, I do that pretty much most of the time. On this picture, crop, brighten, a little more color change or hue.

In my camera bag

My canon eos rebel t5 with kit lens, Sigma 70-300mm lens, 2 extra batteries with charger, polarizer and ND filters, lens cleaners.

Feedback

As an amateur like me, I would have to say have a good zoom lens, tripod and remote. But the number on thing a person needs is patience.. LOTS of patience.
