Behind The Lens

Location

I started teaching at a new high school and the second week I went on bonding tour with a junior grade. We went to the Drakensberg and I spent some time shooting the students while getting to know them.

Time

In the afternoon while they tried to cook a potjie on their own for the first time.

Lighting

It's completely natural. The afternoon light in the berg is spectacular. It rained that night too. It definitely helps to have such beautiful souls who radiate their own light.

Equipment

Canon 350D, hand held, think it was a 50mm lens.

Inspiration

The moment and friendship that was clearly evident between these girls.

Editing

Minimal. I'm dont know how to Photoshop but love aying a little on Lightroom.

In my camera bag

I now have a Fujifilm Xt-20 with a 35mm prime lens as I needed to downscale.

Feedback

I'm still learning and have far to go. Shoot what you love and you can shoot for hours on end. It's a great way to get to know people.
