Location
This photo was taken on a small soccer field in Serbia. I was still an amateur photographer then. So my friends and I were just trying some things out. In fact we were learning more about night photography and what long exposure could do.Time
To take this photo we drove about 10 kilometers outside the city. You can get there by a car, but you have to drive uphill. It was a late afternoon of September the 28th, around 18 o’clock.Lighting
I wanted to see steady my camera has to be in order to get a clear photo, but yet properly exposed. So my friend got me some light to help me. Also I wanted to test my camera, because it was brand new and I wanted to know what it can do.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3200, it was with a kit objective 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VRII. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
Well, we were experimenting that night, my friends and I. We wanted to get long exposure images, some stretched movements on photos. But this one, I wanted it to to separate light from a dark background. I wanted for this light made by a lighter to be seen clearly.Editing
It’s was a shot in raw format, but after it was saved as a jpeg. I did some of the editing in photoshop, miner ones. I increased the contrast, also I added a bit of color in order to get the light to glow more.In my camera bag
Well, I still have the same camera. Nikon D3200 with a kit objective. No changes there yet.Feedback
I believe that no matter where you are or where you live, you can always get a special photo with a little bit of help. When this photo was taken, all I needed was a good company. It was on a playground, because we needed a lot of space for our experiment with light. But for this particular photo, that was taken in between, we only needed a bit of patience, cold ground, a bit of dirt and a lighter. So, you can do it, just practice and don’t give up! Also, have fun.
