Location
This shot was taken in Rosetta McLean Gardens in Scarborough Ontario Canada. A popular garden that is a magnet for migrating monarch butterflies.Time
This was taken in late afternoon on a sunny and warm day.Lighting
The brightness of the day and the sunny disposition made for some tricky metering. After a little time i nailed the shot.Equipment
Equipment here was a Nikon D80 and a new Sigma 70 - 300 mm full frame lens. On the crop sensor of the D80 it gave extended range. I was hand holding the camera and no flash was used. A polarizing filter was used on this shoot as well as a Lens hood.Inspiration
This photo was originally not going to be taken but the sun decided to co operate so I thought about composition. I wanted a bokeh background for the shot as the area was filled with flowers and other photographers.Editing
Post processing on this photo consisted of a minor crop and a white balance change. I changed the white balance as it looked a little washed out and white balance seemed to fix it. minor sharpening as i find the Sigma lens a little soft for my liking. In my camera bag
My bag changes from shoot to shoot as do many photographers bags. Most often in my bag at the time was the D80, Sigma 70 - 300 mm and a kit lens 18 - 55 mm. A light meter and an assortment of filters and cleaning cloths.Feedback
