The White-crested Laughingthrush is an introduced species that has since spread to various secondary forest patches all over Singapore and can often be heard and seen on Kent Ridge. Usually moving in flocks ranging from pairs to noisy gangs of eight, the White-crested Laughingthrush has mostly chestnut-brown upperparts, a white head and breast with a prominent white crest that sometimes appears a dirty grey due to the accumulation of dirt, as well as a broad black stripe running from the lores (the base of the beak) across the eye to the ear coverts. Not only is the White-crested Laughingthrush a highly social bird, it is also relatively unafraid of human disturbance as well.
