I could hear the water running, like a babbling brook but all I could see was ice extending up into the mountainside. So I followed the sound of the water and found this little hole, at the base of the glacier, a window into thousands of years of snow and ice, where I could see that the very heart of the glacier was melting, eons being erased in little torrents of baby blue water.
