This photograph was conceived out of a challenge to show actual UAE locals or "Emiratis" shopping for textiles in a traditional souq street. It is no secret that privacy is of extreme importance to them, hence, the said objective in itself is no simple feat as prior permission and cooperation from the Emirati couple were of course required to achieve this photo.

The frontal and almost flat composition is akin to that of the textiles being sold and their vibrant patterns. The merchant was on the left, ever on the lookout for customers. While the Emirati couple that walked by looking at his colorful merchandise were emphasized by the mannequins that are clothed just like them with their abaya and kandura - highlighting the fact that they are, indeed, very important local customers.
