Tired puppy!

We were told by the pound that Brindee was a Boxer, Chow, Shar-pei mix. We didn't care, she was just a cute puppy.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at John Chesnut Park in Palm Harbor, Florida. The park has a boardwalk that winds through a marshy area along the edge of Lake Tarpon. A wide variety of wildlife can be seen at this park, from alligators and snakes to a wide variety of birds and plant life.

Time

My wife and I had just gotten a puppy from the local animal shelter. No one knew exactly what breeds were mixed together in her. We had decided to take her for a walk in one of our favorite local parks. We had been walking for a while and decided to stop for a rest. I looked under the bench and saw Brindee laid out like this. I laid down on the ground in front of her and she was so exhausted that she didn't even move. I think it was late morning when this picture was taken.

Lighting

The lighting is natural. I did not use a flash or any external lighting. The shot was taken spontaneously, so no setup or prep work was done.

Equipment

This was shot was an Olympus E100RS. The camera has a fixed lens but can vary the zoom. The camera was set on the dock for stability.

Inspiration

I just saw on tired puppy and I thought she looked so cute. I love the way her ears flopped over and she just stared at me and the camera. As she got bigger, her ears stood straight up.

Editing

No post-processing was performed on this image. This is exactly how it came out of the camera. I like to pride myself on not having to do post-processing on my photos.

In my camera bag

This camera was all I carried back when this photo was taken. It was essentially a point and shoot with an onboard flash and non-interchangable lens. These days I shoot with a Sony DSLR and a bag full of gear.

Feedback

Look for the little moments. Sometimes the perfect picture is right there in front of you. Always have a camera ready (which most people do now that everyone carries a smartphone).
