This mighty bridge was built by the Navajos in 1928 to enable the crossing from Arizona to Utah over the Colorado River not quite visible at the bottom of the photograph. The Bureau of Engineers built another bridge next to this Navajo Bridge duplicating the style but built to modern specifications to handle heavier cars and trucks.
