Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Hungary's Basilica Church when my school had a field trip and I just decided to quickly take out my camera and snap a photo quickly and I am very happy with how it turned out.

Time

We had a field trip with my school where part of the learning objective was to learn about different cultures so we visited both the Jewish synagogue and the Basilica church. This photo was taken in the afternoon around 2PM if I remember correctly, and we were having a tour in the Basilica with a spokesperson who kind of talked about the history of the Basilica church and everyone took pictures inside and so I went ahead and took some photos too and this is how it turned out.

Lighting

I really wanted to capture the perspective of the Basilica from kind of below so I turned my camera in an upside position and took the picture like that. I think the lighting turned out to be great in this picture because it really highlights the sculpture and the art of the Basilica and I like how at the top its lighter while downstairs its darker.

Equipment

This was shot on a NikonD7100 with flash.

Inspiration

What inspired me to take this photo is I actually had not really thought about what I am going to do, I just quickly took out my camera and I was looking for what would make a good picture so I just looked up to the ceiling and it immediately caught my eyes.

Editing

Yes I did do some post-processing on Lightroom. I just brightened up the picture a little bit and I used some saturation and vibrance on the photo to give it some nice gold color to really highlight the nice art of the Basilica which you could not see very well in the original photo that I shot on my Camera.

In my camera bag

Normally the equipment that I have in my bag is my Nikon D7100 camera and that is about it.

Feedback

The advice I have for others trying to capture something similar is to find something that really catches your eyes - Wether it is a pattern, art, symbol, or text - and think about in what position you want to take the photo to make it a powerful image. Also look for a good light source because that is key to a good photograph.
