I spent 4 months touring South Island - New Zealand in a camper van. Exploring and taking pics. We arrived in Alexandra as Autumn was just setting in. The colours were amazing and I walked accross the road bridge and took this image.Time
12:05 - about mid day.Lighting
The sky was interesting - scattered cloud and the South Island atmosphere is clear and unpolluted.Equipment
Camera: Canon 400D. Lens Canon EF-S 10-20mm at 13mm. Exposure: 1/200th F4.5 - ISO 100. Circular polariser. Hand held. Tweaks in LightroomInspiration
One can get a little blase' in South Island. There is a view round almost every corner but I liked the colours and the powerful flow of the river.Editing
Yes. Basically minor tweaks. I have just realised that I should have slightly cropped the bottom left corner to get the distraction of the bridge structure out of the pic.In my camera bag
Since this pic was taken I have upgraded twice. First upgrade was to a 7D which served me well for a number of years and now I have replaced that with a 6D. Lenses: All Canon EF 50mm F1.8 EF 100mm f2.8 macro plus a set of extension tubes EF 17-40mmL EF 24-105mmL EF 100-400mmL Sigma 150-600mm C. Tripod - EX 500 flash - filters - cleaning gear.Feedback
Take lots of pics. I have never been on a course but I read as much as possible; mainly off the internet. I am lucky that I live within an hours drive from the Kruger National Park. This has great photographic possibilities. On a road trip take the camera out its bag and have it within reach otherwise you tend to drive past interesting subjects as it seems to much like hard work to unpack your bag.
