Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The peacock was being photogenic that day, so I took plenty of photos!

Time

I took this photo probably around 3-4 pm, as that was the usual time for me and my kids to be at the zoo. Not as many people around!

Lighting

I am a self taught photographer, my first camera was a Kodak 110. I take pictures of what I think looks good. Sometimes I obsess over lighting, but usually I just observe my surroundings and go from there!

Equipment

This photo was taken with my Sony rebel with the standard lens. Nothing fancy.

Inspiration

Nature is my happy place. I am drawn to flowers, animals and horizons. That day, the peacock was feeling fancy, and I took the opportunity to photograph him in his gloriousness!

Editing

I edited the picture slightly, with making the center brighter, more focused. I wanted to highlight the feathers, the colors.

In my camera bag

Anymore the only thing I carry with me is my iPhone 11 Pro Max. After shoulder surgery, I couldn’t carry around a camera, bag and lenses.

Feedback

Patience! And you have to be able to work with what you have. Don’t be afraid to take a lot of pictures. You may take 5, and only have 1 great one. Take 20, and you have better luck with having more great ones!
