Had a few hours out at Hunton Steam Gathering yesterday, a grand day out if Traction Engines, Tractors, Trucks, Cars and Bikes are your thing.
This is a 1945 Scammell 20LA, owned byRitchie Brothers of Hetton Le Hole, County Durham. A fine example of this now disappeared British Brand.
And a very brief history, Scammelll Lorries Ltd were founded in 1921, Swallowed up by the Leyland group in 1955, who in turn were bought out by DAF of Holland in 1986, who finally closed the factory in 1988 resulting in the loss of this iconic Brand.
