Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken downtown in Vancouver, B.C, Canada. My very first trip outside of the U.S. with a close friend of mine. Everything looked so beautiful even after the rain.

Time

It was around midnight. I think it was a night where we wanted to explore the city walking around. We had nothing but our phones and some how I made it work. I think looking at it now, it was probably one of my favorite shots during my trip there. Mostly because it was taken with an iPhone, nothing too fancy.

Lighting

I think the best part of this photo that I took, was that I wasn’t trying so hard to get the “perfect picture” I was just naturally capturing the beauty of the city after the rain. I literally just tried once for the photo, and was like, “Yup this is the one I’m posting tonight.”

Equipment

All I used was an iPhone 7 that I had at the time. Quick and easy. Nothing too fancy.

Inspiration

The inspiration that came from the photo is that everything simple still has beauty. Day or night, dark or light, wet or dry, cold or hot.

Editing

Post processing was also nothing too fancy. I threw in a quick little edit but just adjusting the brightness of the photo and turning it down a bit, as well as the exposure and the highlights.

In my camera bag

Usually I just carry my iPhone 11 max pro (I know such an amateur) only because I don’t always think I’m going to take photos of anything. But when I do know that I’m going somewhere specifically for the photos, I’ll carry my canon rebel t3 and a tripod.

Feedback

Everything is better at night when it’s illuminated like that. Don’t try too hard for a picture like that. Trust your instincts and just go for it! If you don’t have a fancy camera, whip your phone out and you got this!
