Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a Splash Dog event at the Larimer County Fair in Colorado.

Time

The photo was taken in the mid afternoon.

Lighting

Luckily, I did have the sun behind me.

Equipment

I was using a Canon Rebel T6i with a Canon 70-200 IS lens and the shot was handheld. (You never know where one of these dogs might be, once they come off the dock after their toy.).

Inspiration

I was shooting this event, because my dog was competing as well, and it’s always fun to get photos my friends will cherish. SugarBeast is very, very toy driven and will do most anything she can to try to catch it in the air. She was competing this day with her owners 7 ar old nephew, Landon, and his throw went a little wild, but the beast still went for the grab.

Editing

I may have added a little saturation, to make the colors pop, but that is about it.

In my camera bag

I have a Canon Rebel, along with numerous Canon Lenses, but my go to is the 70-200 IS. I also carry Canon 50 and 60 mm prime lens. I also carry a Canon 18-200 lens.

Feedback

Watch the dogs, try to see where/how they jump off the dock. Some get a lot of height, while some come off like lawn darts. Capturing the dogs having fun is a wonderful experience, but you may get wet!
