Behind The Lens
Location
This image was captured near Geelong, Victoria, Australia at a place called Dog Rocks.Time
This was captured at around 3pm in the middle of winter.Lighting
The day was bright so the image was under exposed by two stops to create drama and then an off camera flash (camera right) was used to light my subject.Equipment
This was captured with a Canon 5D MkIII and a Tamron 15-30 f2.8 VC lens.Inspiration
I love images with mood and the isolation of the tree increased the drama in the shot.Editing
The ground was actually green grass but it overpowered the image too much so I converted it to orange to warm the entire image. In my camera bag
Several Canon Bodies. Tamron 15-30, 24-70, 70-200 and 85mm lenses. Elinchrom Quadra RangerFeedback
Understanding how to balance ambient light and calculate flash exposure quickly means set up time is reduced to mere seconds and therefore you are more likely to make the effort to work with off camera flash.
