'Self' (mine or yOurs) is an illusion. I think you know that. 'Belief' in a True Self is a rather grandiose ass'umption that blocks just about any 'awareness' of the constantly changing, morphing 'reality' we perceive. Our egos are chickenshit bastards that cannot accept the overwhelming unknowableness of everything it sees, (or thinks it sees, as it is necessary to turn all perception into illusion via brain mechanics).
