These are the passenger steamers S.S. Columbia (foreground) and S.S. Ste. Clair as they sat back in 2012 in Ecorse, Mi.. These grand ladies, both built in the early 1900's used to service a resort call Bos Blanc or as most people called it, Bob Lo Island which sat near Lake Erie near the southern end of the Detroit River. After the park closed in 1991, the boats were put into mothballs and sat neglected until 2012 when the Columbia was bought by a group of investors from NYC, NY and towed to Toledo for major hull repairs before being towed to Buffalo, NY where she is currently undergoing intensive renovations. Sometime in the near future, she will be towed to NYC, via the St. Lawrence seaway to complete restoration and press her back into service on the Hudson as a passenger ferry, a floating event venue, and living history museum, The St. Claire is also undergoing repairs, but is not expected to ever sail again. Rumors have it that once repairs on the Ste. Claire are complete, she will possibly be headed to Port Huron, Mi. and become a dockside attraction.
