Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture in Louisiana a few years ago at a place called “Oak Alley”, a historical plantation.

Time

This photo was taken in the late afternoon (approximately 3-4pm). This was taken prior to the tour site closing hours to take advantage of the dwindling number tourists leaving to provide a picture perfect opportunity.

Lighting

This was taken in the Spring time (early May) as the light pierced through the majestic oak trees.

Equipment

I use a Nikon D4 with my Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 wide angled lens mounted on my Manfrotto tripod. I did not use flash for this photo.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture the essence of the “South” and this path leading to the plantation mansion was perfectly greeted by the endless lines of oak trees.

Editing

I did some minor post processing using Lightroom to enhance the vibrancy and contrast to balance the scenery.

In my camera bag

I usually travel with my InCase backpack primarily equipped with my Nikon D4 and the “Holy Trinity” collection of Nikon f2.8 lens: 14-24mm, 24-70mm, and 70mm - 200mm.

Feedback

We planned the visit later in the day, as close to the closing hour (between 3-5pm) to avoid the possible crowds of tourists. Also, the lighting is not as harsh during these hours to bring out the best color and contrast.
