Behind The Lens
Location
There was an open house event at Ferrari of Washington, DC. No one expected a multi-million dollar LaFerrari to show up, so when it did, people went nuts. Everyone followed it. I got in front of it instead, and took this picture of the crowd around the car.Time
Late morning.Lighting
I was shooting into the sun, but I had a circular polarizer on the lens and Iwas ableto shade the sun by using my hand to act as a brim over the lens. It worked out ok, all things considered.Equipment
Sony a5100. Kit lens at 50mm equivalent. Cheap $5 circular polarizer. I shot RAW and did a bit of color correction and taming of the highlights in Lightroom.Inspiration
It's a rare, multi-million dollar car. And from the front, it looks like an alien bug. Plus, I liked the remora-like sea of people surrounding it from behind. It added a nice perspective to the excitement.Editing
I brought up some shadows. Reduced a bit of the highlights. Boosted the colors a little because it was washed out from shooting into the sun.In my camera bag
a5100. CPL. That's it.Feedback
Right place, right time and knowing how to shoot in difficult conditions without having to think about it is critical. Practice, practice, practice. And then when the moment comes, you'll be ready.
