Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Seattle, over looking the Pudget Sound from the Crown Hill neighborhood.

Time

Around 9pm after a day of games, food and drink with friends on the deck. The sunset that night was amazing and when I heard the train coming, I snatched up my camera just in time to get the shot.

Lighting

I just flipped up the flash camera. I only had a few seconds to think about the shot and I knew without a flash the train would be in the dark.

Equipment

This was taken with a Nikon P520 using the built in flash.

Inspiration

The setting of the location. Train tracks running along the coast of the Puget Sound with the Olympic Mountains in the distance and an incredible sunset. Hard not to be inspired.

Editing

I didn't do anything too complex, slight adjustments on contrast, saturation and brightness. I try not to overdue or over think it when editing, just enough that if looks good to me.

In my camera bag

My Nikon P520 and that's it. I'm still learning and trying new things. This is my hobby that is quickly becoming a passion and it won't be long before I upgrade to a dslr.

Feedback

My only advice would be to always keep your eyes(and ears) open and don't hesitate to take the shot because you never know unless you go for it.
