Location
The photo was taken in a tropical rainforest in Costa Rica.Time
I was walking around with a guide through the rainforest in the morning, about 11 am. So I had a little help with finding this bird, because it's rather rare.Lighting
The light was good enough to take this picture. In a rainforest is not very much light, so I was glad with my fullframe-camera.TEquipment
The picture was taken with a Canon EOS 6D and a 600 mm lens. I really needed this lens, because the distance was still rather much.Inspiration
I heard and read about the quetzal as one of the most beautiful birds in the world. They can only be seen in the wild in a few countries in Latin America, in Costa Rica and Nicaragua (as far as I know). So I was very anxious to find this bird and I did!Editing
The post-processing was very little. I cropped the picture and I saturated the colors a little bit. IIn my camera bag
I always take my Canon EOS 6D with me, with some lenses: a 15-38 mm lens, a 100 mm macro-lens, a 75 - 300 mm lens and a 150-600 mm lens. Beside that I use graduated filters and things like that.Feedback
In the first place you need a lot of exercising and a lot of patience. You must be boss over your equipment when you're there. When you have to find out things when you are there, well, then you're probably too late for taking the picture.....
