On a visit to the Sierras, I photographed this image near the beginning of the trail to Black Point Fissures. Mono Lake is in the background. There is a hike to the fissures for those able to trek at a 7,000 ft elevation. Black point is a volcano that erupted under Mono Lake near the end of the last ice age. Black point is a peninsula.
