Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo during the pre-wedding shoot of the first wedding I photographed. It was a beautiful Rolls Royce, and an older gentleman in a tuxedo drove it to the venue. I sat in the front and turned to take pictures of the lovely couple in the back. I can still smell its worn out leather.

Time

It was a morning in July, around 11:00 AM. It was after the pre-wedding preparations were over and we waited for the driver to arrive. He pulled up onto a cute suburban street, and I could feel the eyes of every passerby intently studying this beautiful vehicle.

Lighting

I wanted to captured the shadows of the trees on the windshield.

Equipment

I used my Canon eos Rebel t5i, with my 50mm canon lens.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture how luxurious it felt to ride in it right before the couple arrived to the wedding venue. When the car was on the road, nobody could keep their eyes off of it, just how all the guests could not keep from watching and praising the newly married couple.

Editing

I originally shot it in color, so I had to use a black and white mask. I also adjusted the curves on the images to deepen the shadows.

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon eos Rebel t5i with my 50 mm canon lens to start. I have an extra 18-55mm lens in my bag as well. I have an extra battery, my battery charger, and an extra memory card. I have my external flash and a small, "point and shoot" camera (in case of emergencies). I also always make sure to have my business cards in my bag!

Feedback

Make sure to find an angle that portrays the car the way you would like (powerful, strong, adorable, etc.). Take many pictures of all different angles and edit down after! Also, always adjust the curves on your image in Photoshop to ensure it has the contrast that you would like!
