Location
This shot was taken at the rock surf break at Hueneme Beach, Port Hueneme, CaTime
This was one of my favorite shots of the 20 or so that we attempted. We shot about 15-20 minutes after sunset in the afterglow. I believe that it really highlighted the coastal region we were shooting at.Lighting
Shot was the 1st in a series of experiments using steel wool as the light medium. I wanted to include the moon and rocks while catching the ember trails.Equipment
This photo was taken on an Olympus OM-D E-M10 14-42 zoom utilizing the "Live Composite" featureInspiration
I had seen several "Light Painting" shots on the internet as of recent and decided to attempt it myselfEditing
No post processing necessaryIn my camera bag
I carry a Canon 60D and a varying set of lenses and lighting depending on the shoot.Feedback
A good quality tripod is essential! BEWARE!!! You are literally playing with fire and slinging it around your body!!! There is a real possibility to set things or yourself on FIRE!!!! You can not, nor should not, do this type of shot alone! I had 2 assistants with 2 fire extinguishers. We shot in an area that had very little dry brush in the area. Good Luck!
