Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Lafayette Park in downtown St. Louis...This beautiful young lady asked me to take some pictures for her senior year. I am a self taught photographer and have been enjoying taking unique pictures for about 3 years...

Time

I love this image. My point with this picture was to capture a natural beauty with minimal make-up and turn it into a shabby chic photo. We had a gorgeous day but a bit on the humid side and her hair was still amazing with perfect ringlet curls. The sun was in and out so we took this shot under a old building in the middle of the park...

Lighting

The lighting was mid-day with clouds in and out and the sun peeking through. I just kept my camera in a portrait setting and went with it.

Equipment

Canon EOS rebel with a EF 50mm lens

Inspiration

I love it when a client comes to my photoshoot with no worries in the world but lets me run with the ideas in my head. One of my passions is to take a young woman who is all natural and turn there picture into a exquisite piece of art that makes them tear up when they see the final canvas.

Editing

Honestly with this photo it was minimal. I lightened the picture up a bit using a application called Fotor and combining a few different black and white filters.

In my camera bag

I always have my Canon Rebel, my EF 50mm canon lens and my 55mm-250mm lens as well. I must add that I have my phone playing some of my inspiring music and gum. I consider my music and gum equipment, it makes me happy..

Feedback

Just go with the flow, I and not a big believer in doing a bunch of poses that are staged. Make your client feel comfortable and graceful as possible and your camera will do the rest.
