The cottage is located on the shore of Balea Lake, in Transfagarasan area, in the middle of the most magnificent mountain complex of the Carpathians of Romania - Fagaras Massif. Balea Lac cottage and, during winter, also the Ice Hotel, are located in Bilii Valley Nature Reservation, at 2034 m altitude, at km 116,200 on Transfagarasan (DN 7C national road), being accessible from the south-Pitesti, Curtea de Arges, Vidraru, Piscu Negru, and north-on DN1 (E 68) through Cartisoara, Poarta Genistilor, Poarta Intalnirii.
