Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a small lake outside of Milton, Wisconsin just after Thanksgiving, 2014.

Time

It was around 4:30 in the afternoon.

Lighting

It was the golden hour approaching sunset and the shy seemed to glow.

Equipment

I used my old camera, a Canon 50D with a 28-135 zoom lens.

Inspiration

I love sunsets and the coloring was so spectacular.

Editing

When I took this photo, I was still editing with Photoshop Elements 12. All I did was to sharpen the photo a little. Most of it was SOOC.

In my camera bag

At that time I mainly carried my camera and a spare battery. Now I carry a full bag with a Canon 5D Mk iv, a 50 mm 1.2 lens, a 24-70 mm 2.8 lens, an 11-16 mm 2.8 lens, a 70-210mm 2.8, and several spare batteries.

Feedback

Pay attention to the time if you are planning to capture a sunset. Always have your camera handy and ready to shoot. Scope out areas that have a spectacular view for a sunset. Water is always special because you can also capture reflections. Take your time with any editing. I use Lightroom now and take my time on a photo.
