Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my backyard .

Time

This is one of my favorite images that I have captured of my daughter. I actually had a dream about this shoot! I woke up and told my daughter my idea and I immediately got the normal teenage response .. she rolled her eyes. Tho she wasn't tickled about having her face painted and hair teased she done it for her mom. The time it took me to talk her into the shoot, hair and makeup we finally got to do the shoot at 3pm.

Lighting

The spot in my yard that this image was taken is very well shaded. I was going for a dark but beautiful, mysterious but innocent look. With my 9 year old son holding a reflector I think we nailed exactly what I was going for.

Equipment

This was shot from a Nikon d3200. The lens I used is a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. I used photoshop cc to edit the image.

Inspiration

A dream inspired this shoot. And of course when ever I look at my children they inspire me.

Editing

I used photoshop cc to edit this image. I only done simple things such as crop, b&W and made her eyes pop.

In my camera bag

I always have my nikon d3200, Tamron 70-200 f/2.8, Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, nikon 35mm f/1.8 and my neewer tt560 speedlite.

Feedback

My only advice on trying to capture something similer to this image is. If the subject is something or someone that makes your heart skip a bit you cant go wrong with the image. In my case the subject in the image is my daughter and when i bring together who i love and what i love to do, in my eyes that image turns into magic.
