Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in my new workroom in the Netherlands. It's not big but very comfortable.

Time

I took this picture somewhere in the middle of the day. When the sun was on its brightest.

Lighting

I'm very happy with the natural lightning that gets into the room. I like natural light the most but when I don't have enough, I'll use an external flashlight.

Equipment

I've used my nikon 3200 camera and had alsone used the nikon speedlight sb-700 in the background for a bit extra light.

Inspiration

I bought an old stairs a few weeks ago and really wanted to make a picture with it, I still didn't know what or how. Eventually I was just standing next to it and this result came out.

Editing

I just bring in some extra contrast and brighten the eyes a bit. I love eyes in pictures, especially when they're coming out a bit more. They give something extra.

In my camera bag

My nikon d3200 is always with me, most of the time I use the nikor 70-300 for horse photography and portraits. I also bring my 55-200 to capture more in one picture. The nikon speedlight sb-700 goes with me as a back up when the light and of course extra an extra battery and extra memory.

Feedback

Try to find a nice spot with natural light when you are photographing. Use an external flashlight when you find the natural light misses something on its own. Try different things with both until you find something you're happy with.
