I snapped this picture about 5am in Cairns thought it looked amazing. One of the images in the same shoot looks like there is a person standing and when enlarged you can see eyes and mouth.

Behind The Lens

Location

Was staying in Cairns Queensland for a couple of days. From my balcony I took this photo of the early morning sunrise.

Time

I'm an early riser so it was about 5.15 in the morning, made a coffee then went out to my hotel room balcony. Saw the sun starting to rise over Crodile Island just off Cairns Beach, grabbed my camera and began to take these photos.

Lighting

I like my images to be as natural as possible and with the summer sunrise I felt that was enough lighting for these photos. With the cloud covering the sun and the beams just shining through I felt it was a good photo all on it's own. Just used the natural light from the sun.

Equipment

This photo was taken with A Nikon D3200 with a 200 lens, no flash used and no tripod.

Inspiration

I take photos of everything I see as for six years I was blind and after transplants to both my Cornias I regained sight in my left eye but am still blind in my right eye. It is not known if I will loose my sight again, so this has even me the drive to shot what ever I see and when ever I can.

Editing

The only thing I do is through Photoshop Elements 11 and that is only to enhance the coloring if needed or to crop my photos done a little. I believe if you are taking photos of the world around you it needs to be as natural as possible to really show the beauty that nature has to offer in every aspect of it.

In my camera bag

I have in my Camera bag, a Nikon 18-55mm, a Nikon 55-300mm spare lenses, 3 spare batteries and a waterproof cover for my cameras. I also carry filters and Camera hoods in my bag. I carry already set to take photos is 1 Nikon D3200 body with a 18-55mm lens attached, 1 Nikon D3100 body with a 55-300mm lens attached and a Nikon D5200 body with a 150-600 zoom lens attached. I am ready for anything that arises while I'm out and about or just at home.

Feedback

I travel throughout Queensland to take photos of everything. traveling through the outback of Queensland you need to be prepared for everything as an eagle just fly out in front of you or the winds can change rapidly to show you Whirly winds to small tornadoes. As a Nature and landscape photographer be prepared to stop at a moments notice to capture the amazing sights of the landscape and nature that surrounds.
