Location
I took this photo on a holiday to Schiermonnikoog with my girlfriend. At a quiet place near the beach we waited till the milky way was occurring.Time
Of course this picture was taken late. Around about twelve at night, just before moon rise.Lighting
When photographing the milky way long exposures are really important, the light of the stars is quit weak so long exposures are necessary to expose the details.Equipment
Sony A7s, Carl Zeiss Loxia 50mm and a velbon videomate.Inspiration
I'm really into milky way photography. And since Schiermonnikoog is one of the darkest places in the Netherlands, this was a change I didn't want to miss ;)Editing
Post processing is really important for milky way photography. This picture is a stitch of 20 photo's @50mm, I collected a lot of data this way. After the stitching I stretched the milky way with the curves and I added a unsharp mask to make clear more detail. In my camera bag
I always take my A7s with me, usually mounted with the Loxia 50mm. I also often use my Samyang 14mm T3.1. Furthermore I use a few old M42 lenses (135mm and 28mm).Feedback
A stable tripod, good large aperture lenses and coffee to stay awake :P
