I found this beautiful butterfly while on a photography walk along a lake. What made me stop to take this shot is the vibrant colors on it that seemed to shine in the light.Time
It was morning when the sunlight as just getting starker. The butterfly had come to bask on the tip of a florescence in between collecting nectar from the small flowers. So the light was directly falling on its spread wings, which made it look vibrant.Lighting
Sun was getting starker, so I got a brilliant light. the light was illuminating the butterfly's wings, which made this shot stand out. The patterns on the butterfly are simply too amazing to miss.Equipment
I used my meager Canon 600D with a telephoto lens. Lighting is natural and no other equipment was used.Inspiration
I have always been amazed by the macro world of insects and small animals around us. And I love the subtle creatures that are butterflies. In fact, I spent a lot of my college days learning to identify and categorize them. So when I saw this butterfly, Grey Pansy baking in the sun, I knew I had to take its photo. I was particular about getting the play of light on its wings while t completely open.Editing

Well, there'sno better advice I can give than to be prepared. Butterflies are elusive creatures, so always be ready! And I think their patterns make each butterfly different, so one should always be careful to see the patterns on it. Most importantly, be prepared to tramp over a lot of thicket, and you want to love doing that. Enjoy!
