Funny story behind this one, I've seen 1000 Black Bears hiking and driving in my life, but I've never, ever, had a camera nearby (it was either in my backpack or in the trunk, or in the backpack in the trunk), and despite how people "fear" black bears, I assure you, not just from experience, but from environmental scientists, they are more scared of YOU than you are of them. Ergo, they run away before I could ever get my camera ready. This time I was driving slowly down a country road and saw this bear cub climbing a tree, WOW, and I got about 30 shots before he saw me and freaked out and ran away. A minute later I see two bear cubs led by mommy bear run across the road, lending credibility to the fact that they want nothing to do with humans. What's in our garbage cans probably interest them more than us, so exercise caution as always in the wild, don't go following them trying to get a selfie.

What a great picture! There are black bears on this mountain where we have had a cabin for 11 years and we have seen only 3 and the were not at all interested in us. Some one a few miles from here wanted to catch the kids who were knocking down his hummingbird feeders etc. so he had someone stay there when he was away to watch for them. The next morning he looked out to see 2 bears in his jeep! The wildlife people said not to shoot them. They gave him gave him rubber buckets to shoot them.
