Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my home in Minneapolis Minnesota.

Time

Time of day wasn't too important photo, it was around 5:00pm. However it was indoors with controlled lighting so the sun was not affecting it.

Lighting

I used a single light focused on the side of her to get the high contrast.

Equipment

I normally use my Canon camera but this just to happens to have been taken on my Iphone 6s. I love this photo because it shows how amazing IPhones are and sometimes all you have with you is your phone, and I'm glad I can trust my phone to take amazing photos like this one.

Inspiration

Water droplets always amaze me when they are beaded up and I wanted to take that a step forward and add something unique so I chose to add a person.

Editing

I didn't do too much post-processing, just minor touches for the contrast and brightness.

In my camera bag

I usually had my Canon EOS Rebel with a 18-55mm lens but just recently purchased a Canon EOS 80D that I now carry everywhere with its two lenses (18-135mm and a 50mm lens).

Feedback

Lighting is a big part for a photo like this, you want to have a completely dark room with you light source pointed at your subject. To get the beaded water effect you will need a spray bottle that can mist water. I tried with just this set up but found that water won't bead well on skin so I used a light coat of vaseline on my subject and then misted the water until I got my desired water build up.
