Behind The Lens

Location

I captured this image on a tiny little island to the North of the Netherlands called "Vlieland". Each summer, my parents would take me here: It's basically where I grew up.

Time

Because they don't allow cars on the island, it has one of the best air quality in all of Europe which makes the sunsets more majestic than anywhere else I've seen.

Lighting

For some reason, there seem to be more purple hours than golden hours on Vlieland, which I love. It gives you the opportunity to capture a sunset without the cliché gold light.

Equipment

I actually took this capture after a surf session: and since I didn't want to leave my m50 on the beach, I used a Samsung s6 edge+!

Inspiration

As with every other image: nature. Whether it's people, animals, the ocean or the forest. There's something about the randomness: not a single face is the same, each sunset is different, and every forest is unique.

Editing

This is one of the few images I have without their makeup on ;)

In my camera bag

Usually, I take a c Canon m50: I love it for its size and weight. I travel a lot, so all my gear needs to fit within a backpack. I also take a small foldable tripod, a few lenses, some props like prisms, and a stabilizer for when I'm filming

Feedback

I took this image at low tide, which is when the sea reveals the ocean floor. It creates these lines in the sand. Look for those, and you'll find yourself reflections stretching all the way to the horizon!
